How long has it been since you have visited the Botanic Park? Well this weekend may be the perfecxt opportunity. The Quincentennial Celebrations Office along with the Cayman Islands Orchid Society presents Weekend at the Park.
Weekend at the Park features the Annual Orchid Show and Sale and represents an ideal time for people to visit this unique and truly Caymanian attraction. On Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am the park will be alive and flourishing with exotic orchids and a flurry of activity.
"In addition to the orchid show and sale we will also have a guest lecturer, Craig Morrell conducting talks and demonstations about orchids, " explained Mr. Andrew Guthrie, Manager of the Botanic Park, "this is the biggest weekend of the year for the park and I hope that everyone on the island will take the opportunity to see what a wonderful show it is and how much the park can offer for a day out."
On Saturday morning at the park the official opening and launch of the Native Orchide Propagation Unit will take place. This unit has been sponsored by the Dart Foundation and its purpose is the preservation of the native orchids of Cayman.
The weekend will also be the launching pad for the 'Celebrate Cayman's Flora and Fauna' colouring book which was sponsored by Cayman National Corporation. The colouring book features wondereful images and will be distributed to all school children in the Cayman Islands.
