CAYMAN ISLANDS MARATHON - RE/MAX Takes On Cayman Marathon
Posted: 11/27/2007

Real estate giant RE/MAX Cayman Islands is known for its strong sense of civic duty, always supporting great causes, and the Cayman Islands Marathon has been able to benefit from this community spirit for the past two years as RE/MAX has not only been a mile sponsor for the race but has also supported the event by entering teams for the relay race and runners for the half-marathon.

This year the company is entering a team once again and two half-marathoners, and the runners are challenging other companies to get involved.
“The Cayman Islands Marathon is a great event for the whole family and encourages everyone to get active,” said RE/MAX Marketing Executive Janet Jarchow, who is running the half marathon. “It is an international event which draws a lot of tourists to the islands, and it raises money for two very important local charities. That’s why RE/MAX loves to be a part of it.”

Dillon Claassens agreed and added that it isn’t necessary to have extensive running experience, especially in the team relay and half-marathon. He and his fellow teammates of Team RE/MAX Powerhouse, Susan Boyko and Douglas Boyd, are novice runners while the fourth runner, Kerri Kanuga, took part in last year’s event.

“Finishing is our first goal,” says Kanuga.  “Secondly, it would be great to do the relay in under four and a half hours.”

RE/MAX’s other half-marathoner, Amanda Brookman, has run the Cayman Islands Half-Marathon before and took up the sport to honour the memory of a friend who died of cancer.

“I would like to encourage more companies in Cayman to support the Cayman Islands Marathon,” says Brookman. “It’s a great way to get your staff involved in community efforts and get them from behind the desks and out of the boardrooms to engage in something healthy and beneficial to their overall wellbeing. Some friendly competition among staff members to build team spirit can’t hurt either!”
