Cayman Airways recently presented five lucky runners with round trip tickets to any CAL destination as part of the airline’s sponsorship of the upcoming Cadet Corps Marathon which is being held on Sunday, 7 December.

The free airline tickets were part of a campaign to get runners to sign up early for the marathon, half marathon and four-person relay. Of the dozen teams and 40+ individual runners who entered the draw, half marathon entrant, Penny McDowell, and relay runners Eillen Chan, Justin Mayall, Kiralee Mayall and Kevin Stromsmoe of Team C.A.N.A.N.Z.A. were declared the winners, their names being chosen live on Z99’s Derek and Patrick in the Morning show.

Penny ran the Cadet Corps half marathon last year and is using the race this year as preparation for the Walt Disney Marathon which takes place in January 2004, where she will be running the entire marathon for the 7th time.

“Running the Cadet Corps Half Marathon in December is a great warm up for my big race in January plus I’m supporting the Cadets, a worthwhile cause,” says Penny. “The Cayman Airways ticket will also come in handy as I can use it to get to Orlando! This was perfect timing!”

Race Director Rhonda Kelly of Kelly Holding Ltd. thanked official race promoter Z99 for their role in urging people to sign up early for the event. “We had a flood of entries the day before the September 30th deadline and I know that was because Z99 was pushing people to get their forms in,” said Rhonda. “Congratulations to Penny and Team C.A.N.A.N.Z.A. and a big thank you to Cayman Airways for their continuous support.”
