CAYMAN CRICKET CELEBRATION MEDIA - Legendary Caribbean Speaker for Dinner
Posted: 7/14/2003

Renowned Caribbean Comedian/Speaker, Paul Keens-Douglas will be the speaker for the evening at the upcoming Quincetennial Cricket Celebration.

Known as Mr.Tim Tim in the theatrical world, Paul Keens-Douglas is one of the most eloquent and best-known storytellers and social commentators in the English-speaking Caribbean. Born in Trinidad he spent his early childhood in Grenada.

Active in drama from an early age, he has a wide and varied background in Theatre and the Creative Arts. Over the years he has become a leading exponent of the oral traditions of which his annual Tim Tim Show and Carnival Talk Tent have become hallmarks.

“We are overjoyed to have Mr. Keens-Douglas joining us for the Cricket Gala – he is a thrilling speaker and will no doubt have the audience in stitches with his humour. He includes a great amount of cricket in his performance and those who have heard his famous ‘tanti at de oval’ can vouch for the laughs they will have listening to him,” explained event organiser Rhonda Kelly.

The remarkable thing about Keens-Douglas’ work is its wide appeal, an appeal that covers all classes and age groups, but at the same time is wholesome and family-oriented. What's more, the manner in which he presents his material makes him easily understood by foreign audiences in both the business and artistic arena.

In addition to Keens Douglas at the event, guests will enjoy a 4-course meal with wine included all evening and music and dancing afterwards. The West Indies greats that will be in Cayman for the event include best batsman in the world Brian Lara, World Record holder Courtney Walsh, openers Chris Gayle & Wavell Hinds, Vice Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and celebrated fast bowler from the 1970’s Windies, Joel Garner.

“This will be a full evening of entertainment – we have steel drum music to greet you as you enter, cricket highlights to delight you as you are seated, our renowned guest speaker and best of all – one-on-one time with the best in West Indies cricket – we guarantee that the evening will be a thrill for everyone who attends!” Rhonda concluded.
