Cayman cricket fans can now log on to get up-to-date local cricket news and events, including information about the upcoming Quincentennial Cayman Cricket Celebration weekend in July, by clicking on www.caymancricket.com.
The site, which was recently launched, is designed and hosted by local company Vision Marketing as part of their sponsorship of the Cayman Cricket Celebration weekend, which is taking place 25-27 July.
“We are so excited about Vision Marketing coming on board as a sponsor for the Cayman Cricket Celebration,” says event organiser Rhonda Kelly of Kelly Holding Ltd. “The wealth of website marketing experience that Craig and Andre bring to the table ensures that visitors to this site won’t be disappointed, and will find it a user-friendly tool and a valuable source of information for and about Cayman cricket.”
Vision Marketing has been operating in Cayman for over 12 years and has been involved in web development for the past three years. Craig Weller, who designed the site, has over six years experience in web development and web mastering, and is excited about this new project. “One of the greatest challenges and rewards with this type of work is bringing the client’s ideas to life and transforming them into an online professional marketing tool,” says Weller. “The cricket weekends in Cayman have always been a huge success and we thought that offering our services by way of a website would be an ideal way to contribute to the marketing of the event, while increasing awareness of what Vision Marketing can do for your company or special occasion.”
The site contains details of this year’s event which will bring six past and current West Indies cricketers to Cayman for a busy weekend that includes a fundraising gala dinner on Friday, 25 July, kids’ clinics on Saturday, 26 July and an exhibition match on Sunday, 27 July. The site also features photos from past cricket weekends, information for fans who want to travel to Cayman for the cricket weekend and links to the sponsors’ websites.
The Cayman Islands Cricket Association will also have a page on the website. “Although the primary focus of the website at this time is to bring attention to the Quincentennial Cricket Celebration Weekend in July, the Cricket Association envisions using the site on a long-term basis as a tool through which we can disseminate information, both locally and internationally, about our various programmes and initiatives,” explains National Cricket Coach Theo Cuffy. “The popularity of cricket in the Cayman Islands has grown in leaps and bounds over the years and we want to get the message out to the rest of the Caribbean and the world that Cayman is a country that loves and embraces cricket. This website will assist us in this endeavour.”
The Quincentennial Cayman Cricket Celebration weekend is being sponsored by Cable and Wireless, Vibe FM, Cayman Screen Print, Guinness and Red Stripe, Marriott Resort Grand Cayman, Cayman Airways, Vision Marketing and the Cayman Islands Cricket Association.
